6:00 PM - 8:45 PM
Tour of the FEDEX Express Facility at DIA
6:15 pm - Meet at RTD Park and Ride at 40th and Pen Blvd
6:45 - 8:45(?) pm - Tour
Joint meeting by invitation from the Professional Engineers of Colorado (PEC)
PEC organizer: Mr. Mike Wolf
Message from Mr. Mike Wolf:
FEDEX Express airport facility is at
26900 E 75th Ave
Denver, CO 80249
From Pena Blvd, exit at the signs for rental cars and air cargo, right before the old parking entry gates.
Follow that road (75th Ave) about a mile, and we are on the right.
Parking is limited, so carpooling is a must.
The facility is a working warehouse, so ask everyone to be careful, and it will be difficult for anyone who is mobility impaired. Stairs are the only way into the planes, and there are some narrow aisles in the warehouse, so I don't think anyone in a wheelchair will manage very well. I'd like to start about 6:45-7:00 PM. We will begin with a short presentation on what we are doing at the facility and how the system works at FEDEX, because everyone always wants to know, then we will take a look inside an airplane, then watch the package sort. The sort goes for an hour or so, but we don't have to stay that long if you don't want to, it doesn't change much during the evening.
ASNT suggestion:
It is suggested that the member of the Colorado section meeting at the RTD Park and Ride at 40th and Pena Blvd at 6:15 PM so we can car pool to the facility.
