RD Tech Ultrasonic Phased Arrays How it works and what it can do Abstract Phased-array technology is the ability to electronically modify the acoustic probe characteristics. Probe modifications are performed by introducing time shifts in the signal sent to and received from individual elements of an array probe. This can provide high speed electronic scanning without moving parts. Improved inspection capabilities are possible through software control of UT beam characteristics, providing greater flexibility for inspection of complex geometries . This presentation will introduce ultrasonic phased array principle and capabilities. About the Speaker: Henry Cook is the Western Region Sales Representative for RD TECH. Henry has over 25 years of NDT experience, with 15 years of sales and marketing of Ultrasonic, Eddy Current, Radiographic, and Visual equipment. He was also a Lead Engineer for the NDT/Material and Process Group and McDonnell Douglas Astronautics, Huntington Beach (Now Boeing Aerospace), with a B.S. in Material Science from Cal State Long Beach. Henry has been involved in ASNT, serving as chair of the Greater Los Angeles Section in 1996-97. |
