Johns Hopkins University, Director, CNDE (2001-present), Associate Director, CNDE (1995-2001), Principal Research Scientist, (1993-present); Materials and Sensors Technologies, Inc., President (1994 - present); Martin Marietta Laboratories (Scientist 1980-1984; Senior Scientist and Group Leader 1984-1988; Manager, Nondestructive Evaluation Dept. 1988-1990; Manager, Evaluation and Subsystem Engineering 1990-1993); NIST (Technical Consultant, 1979); Technical Director, Manager or Principal Investigator on many large programs, (encompassing: NDE, advanced composites, surface mount technology, packaging chip-on-board, embedded sensors, space launch vehicle subsystems ); University of Colorado, Boulder, Adjunct Professor (Graduate Student Advisor) 1991-1993.
MAJOR RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Materials science and engineering, nondestructive evaluation, ultrasonic, acoustics, advanced composite materials and structures, in-process control, optical testing, light-sound interactions, laser-optical sonar, in-situe and smart sensors, holography, acoustic emission, electronics, computers system interfacing and programming, digital data acquisition and signal/image processing analysis, metal fatigue, X-rays imaging, triboluminescence and optical spectroscopy.
